SHE, WHO YOU CALL MOM, BREATHER OF LIFE

The familiar special day for our dear moms may have ended in some parts of the world, but others have yet to celebrate. To that, I want to take that time in-between to emphasize how she, who you call mom is exactly that: the doer of the impossible, the bridge in between gaps, the fixer of all problems, and the breath of life from one growth milestone to another.

During the pandemic, parents make every tool work just to keep communication lines open.

To all of the mothers out there, including those who assume the position, who is to become one, and most especially, if you are committed to being one, thank you for your nurturing soul and compassion. All of the children in this world is blessed to have been granted life and love by their mother, to be blessed by a grandmother and to be in a position where you can relive how she took care of you by being a mother yourself. Each and every child walking on earth, own a beating loving heart because of a mother. Without mothers, we won’t be here in the world.

As a mom

I understand that it’s not a walk in the park. We feel double the pain our children feel, even doubt ourselves if we are doing the right thing for them or not, every single time. We are restlessly on guard, protecting them and providing for them. I can go on and on with how much we deal with while being one. But there’s no other source of power to endure them all except God through our own moms, and that is my Mama, Veegee and my mother-in-law, Mama Sifou.

Prayer for protection

To that, I say this prayer for all of you:

O, my Lord! Thou knowest that the people are enriched with pain and calamities and are environed with hardships and trouble. Every trial doth attack man and every dire adversity doth assail him like unto the assault of a serpent. There is no shelter and asylum for him except under the wing of Thy protection, preservation, guard and custody. O Thou the Merciful One!

O, my Lord! Make thy protection my armour, Thy preservation my shield, humbleness before the door of Thy oneness my guard, and Thy custody and defence my fortress and my abode. Preserve me from the suggestions of self and desire, and guard me against every sickness, trial, difficulty and ordeal. Verily, Thou art the Protector, the Guardian, the Preserver, the Sufficer, and verily, Thou art the Merciful and the Most Merciful.

Abdu’l-Bahá

The perfect gift I received today is knowing that all of the mothers who take their time to exchange ideas, talk life, and share the momentous joy in motherhood with me are protected, most especially, the health of my own stand strong. Both as warriors and angels, in protecting your young ones and steadfast in guiding them to the proper spiritual growth. May you continue to remain safe mothers.

Mabuhay kayo! Happy mother’s day to all moms and moms at heart!

About

I have a deep regard for your time. It's when I write and cook that time becomes non-existent. I love learning and while you think I am the kind of lady who has a lot of things to say, just take it that I was sharing what I had learned with full impact over a cup of Joe.
